About the baker

Hi! and thanks for being here. I’m Rachel Massengale the baker and owner of Massengale Flour Shop.

Massengale Flour Shop started out when my mom and I were at a baby shower and there were obviously cookies. They were beautiful but didn’t taste the best. Since I had always been creative and my mom had always baked, mom suggested we try out decorating sugar cookies. I was hesitant of course (if you know me, you know I’m not a risk taker.) lol Later that year, mom made wedding cakes for my cousin’s wedding. At the reception, one of the bridesmaids asked the bride, “Who made the cakes?” She responded, “Aunt Sandy’s Kitchen,” and that’s where our original name came from. We made our first few sales during December of 2019.

We continued to try to work together at our separate houses bringing items back and forth until I got pregnant with my first child who would be due in May of 2022. Trying to navigate motherhood shook my whole world. I couldn’t imagine trying to jump back into cookies with a newborn.

Fast forward to May of 2024 after my second daughter was born. I decided to get back into cookies. That’s when I fully took over and rebranded as Massengale Flour Shop.

Now here we are! I can’t wait to see what happens next.
